Suicide is not painless….

Monday, March 30th, 2009

…not for those who are left behind anyway. With Easter upon us and new life all around, the messages and emails flood in from people who have lost relatives in this terrible way.
I know there is a shocking legacy that is left behind when someone leaves the world in this way. So I take heart from the Daffodils, the squeaking of the chicks in their nest and the new growth springing all around us – for all the sadness in the world we can still find happiness in Spring..

3 Steps To Happiness..

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

Are you still waiting for your circumstances to change before you’ll allow yourself to be happy? Most of us have preconceived ideas of what would make us happy, and we refuse to be satisfied until those things happen.

The problem is that even once specific things happen in our lives, we’re rarely satisfied with them! Instead, we shift our focus to something even bigger and better, believing “it” will make us happy (or happier). We never allow ourselves to reach a point of contentment. Have you done the same thing to yourself?

The good news is that you can decide to be happy NOW – even if not everything in your life is perfect. Below you’ll find 3 easy ways to do so:

1) Be grateful. Gratitude is one of the most powerful states of mind that you can adopt. Not only does it make you feel good, it shifts your focus from what you don’t have to what you DO have, and keeps it there! As you focus more on what you are grateful to have in your life (even the really small blessings!), you worry less about anything that may be lacking. The result? A more pervasive sense of happiness!

2) Take time to smell the roses. If you spend most of your days feeling rushed and scattered, it’s hard to feel happy and content. In order to be truly happy, you need to make time for yourself to relax, dream, and take pleasure in life’s simpler moments. Beginning today, make sure to spend time doing things you love on a regular basis. Read books that stimulate your imagination; listen to great music; take long walks, and generally make an effort to enjoy your life as it is right now.

3) Love the journey. Many of us make the mistake of pinning all of our expectations on some vague, far-off result, like the completion of goals. We believe that once we “get there” everything will be perfect and we’ll finally be happy. However, there is much to be gained from enjoying the journey TO your destination! Make it your mission to revel in every moment that you’re working toward higher goals. Enjoy the sense of self-mastery and accomplishment you gain with every goal you achieve. Make it a worthwhile journey and you’ll savor the end result that much more!

The most important thing to understand about happiness is that it is largely a CHOICE you make from moment to moment. Though certain serious situations make it difficult to feel happy at times, most often we allow the little things to bother us and block any happiness we would otherwise feel. Embrace happiness, and it will grow to monstrous proportions in your life!

Spellbound..

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

I have a room set aside exclusively for my magical spell work, a room that is locked at all times. This allows me to work undisturbed. My work area is periodically cleaned with a purifying powder to keep away negative vibrations. I have decorated it with things that put me in a magical mood. Things that stimulate all my physical senses; colours for sight, incense for scent, music for hearing, wines for taste, and textures for feel.

I have an altar set up that is used as a worktable. It’s size and shape is of  a kind that appeals to me; on this I place candles and other items that assist me to concentrate on the work at hand. I like to cover this altar with a white cloth and place fresh cut flowers on it every day.

I always use the best candles, oils, and incenses that I can afford, or I make my own; for scrimping on materials has a negative effect on the subconscious. I never forget that the subconscious is very good at making do with raw materials that it can shape to its own use.

I never cast a spell until I have a clear and concise picture of what it is I wish to accomplish. This ties in with the saying “Be careful what you wish for, you just might get it.”

I always ground out any extra energy I raise for the spell, and bind the spell so that it expires within the pre-determined amount of time. Once I have cast the spell, I do  not discuss it with anyone except my client. Many spells peter out because the person who cast it has spoken about it to people other than who it was for, this will rob the spell of its of power before it has a chance to work. The ancient bond placed on the magician was to dare, to know and to keep silent.

Above all, at all times, I remember the Rede: “An ye harm none, so do what you will.”

Lastly, never try to cast a spell given to you by someone else. You cannot know all the effects of the spell, therefore, the magick must be cast by the spell maker alone.

A Hawk Cries..

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

I smile as I realise the amount of time (again) I’ve spent gazing at the wild, grey Atlantic swell from the cliff-tops today. The crunch of my heels are the only sound filling my ears as I walk slowly down the gravel drive and head towards the door to my isolated cottage. But then there’s something else. That’s when I hear it. I stop stone still in my tracks as if I’ve hit an invisible wall.  I look up to see a female Sparrowhawk as she drops from the sky and swoops towards me. She startles me with her strident sound as she cries out again and again. My totem, my spirit guide and my early warning system. She screams once more and alights in the trees at the bottom of the garden. I go inside feeling happy and fulfilled.

Look For the Angels

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

“Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained Angels unaware.” Hebrews 13:

Do you you believe in Angels? I know I do. I see them quite often, particularly at dusk when they are most visible.

They seem to be among us in mass at the moment, I don’t know why.  They often appear normal, flesh and bone and some may be even rolling around in the gutter covered in dirt, as they can take many forms.

This reminds me of a woman I once knew in Dublin, who forever lamented over the fact that she stepped over an old tramp lying in an alley.. After a few minutes she returned to help him and to give him some money- but to her horror he had suddenly disappeared. She came to me for a reading and asked if she had failed some kind of divine test and, in essence, she had.

We are all tested constantly- open your eyes and see how many of these heavenly creatures you can really see.

Are Psychics real?

Saturday, March 14th, 2009

This was a question put to me yesterday. Well, whether you believe in psychics, paranormal activity, spiritualism or not, the fact of the matter is there is currently hard scientific data documenting the anomalous psychic events which occur in the everyday world around us. In addition, for thousands of years unexplained phenomena have been documented throughout history. Are millions of people crazy? I think not. I assure you that the spiritual realm does exist and I am not alone in that belief. Many scientists, physicists  and spiritualists share the same views about our universe. Even some world renowned scientists speculate the need for more than one dimension to explain life as we know it.

My best advice is to try to keep an open mind and an objective outlook about things that we do not fully understand. That is unless you believe the sole criterion of reality is our limited human ability to quantify, tag, and label it. After all we cannot see the wind but we do see the affect it has on the leaves as they blow around us. Does this mean wind does not exist just because we cannot see it?

Mad March Hares

Friday, March 13th, 2009

I was walking along the cliff tops early this morning. When two Mad March Hares came dashing across my path. Tumbling and scuffling and then boxing on their hind legs – they were totally oblivious to me. Suddenly they became aware of my presence and with startled looks each dashed away through the tall grass, scattering seed pods and flowers as they went. I couldn’t help but laugh. If we humans could only end our differences in a cloud of pollen and petals, what a different world this would be!

Friday 13th – Unlucky For Some!

Thursday, March 12th, 2009

I have mixed feeling about the Friday 13th. So much psychic energy is created by the thought of it that it’s no wonder statistically it is a day fraught with dangers. If you are unduly worried by the the thought of the 13th – stay calm and indoors if you can. If you do have to go out, and most people do, then avoiding crowds and large concentrations of people is a good idea. Alcohol should be left alone and if you can use public transport, do that too. Apart from that I think it best is treated as another day. Because if all that psychic energy were concentrated on the 14th then that would be a worry too! Enjoy Friday 13th for what it is – another beautiful spring day in March when we should just feel glad to be alive!

Our Animal Spirit Guides

Tuesday, March 10th, 2009

I get so many enquiries about Animal Spirit Guides. This is a psychic phenomenon that generates so much interest – yet it can be subject to so much misinterpretation.  My own guides have brought me much comfort and assurance over a such long period of time – I don’t know what I would do without them! It’s a great shame that so many people are unaware of their guides – although they are constantly around us.

I thought it might be a good idea to make a few notes on the subject.

After you understand what type of animal guide has come into your life, it is necessary to educate yourself fully as to the nature of the animal. Learn about its habitat, life cycles, what it eats, physical characteristics, special skills and traits, social and mating habits. Go to places where your animal guide can be found in real life. Study it in nature. Gaining insight into the nature of your animal guide will help you to better understand its messages. Meditate on this knowledge and discover its power and medicine.
After you learn various ways to work with the medicine of you animal spirit guide, the medicine becomes a gateway to connecting with other spirit guides found within its domain. Your animal spirit guide (or those spirits who choose to reveal themselves in the form of an animal) will teach you how to align with other spirit guides and beings.

Remember: The spirit guide chooses the person. The person does not choose the spirit guide. A person cannot simply select an animal and begin communication – the results of which are often frustrating and unsuccessful. A spirit guide must be harmonious with the person.

Communication with your spirit guide requires reverent respect and knowledge of the ways of the animal guide. You must find ways to honour your spirit guide. The more importance you give to the spirit guide the more they respond to you. Most spirit guides do not immediately acknowledge themselves to the person as they are leery of your intention and knowledge. A spirit guide is sensitive to moods, current events, and a persons path in life. They must first trust you and learn your needs and wants. You must learn to trust them and understand their needs and wants. It takes time, patience and practice.

Spring is in the air – An Osprey skims the waves..

Friday, March 6th, 2009

Looking out over the cliffs this morning I caught sight of a bird skimming the waves. I know this bird, or its kind. It was an Ospey on its northward migration back to Scotland after wintering in North Africa. What fantastic journeys these birds make, enduring hardships of all kinds, driven on by pure survival instinct and the need to produce the next generation of their kind. What kind of psychic forces can guide these birds on a five thousand mile journey over deserts and seas? Often not eating for weeks on end these birds unerringly fly across the Sahara with no more thought than you or I would give to going to the shops. When people question me on the power and proof of unseen psychic waves and phenomenon and ask me to explain their existence – I point them toward the Osprey as a an example of psychic power and drive that needs no explanation – it just is!
